Panel Session: Making Cybersecurity Work in a Post-COVID World

Over the past six months, cybersecurity teams have been faced with a dizzying conundrum: how to economically secure enterprise data accessed by a remote workforce and how to manage the influx of new cyberattacks triggered by the pandemic. And in some enterprises, these challenges are compounded by radical shifts in business models and the creation of new pathways for communicating critical and personal information. In this fascinating panel moderated by Dark Reading editors, leading cybersecurity experts discuss the tools, practices and strategies that enterprises can use to improve security in a post-COVID-19 cybersecurity environment.

Panel Session: Data Center Automation and Its Limits

One of the many things the COVID-19 pandemic made crystal clear is that automation at every layer of a company’s digital infrastructure is more than a nice-to-have. It’s more than a way to reduce management costs and complexity. It’s even more than a way to create business value through a more capable platform. Today, automation has become essential for survival of the business, especially in a shrinking global economy. Experts on this panel, produced and moderated by Data Center Knowledge, will discuss data center and network automation solutions and strategies, including methods to recognize and overcome the limitations of current technology.

Panel Session: In Search of the Silver Lining in the Rush to Remote Work

COVID-19 has stormed across the globe in 2020, causing a dramatic shift in how IT supports employees as a huge percentage of knowledge work migrated to home-based end users. That shift placed additional burdens on IT infrastructure, but it also had a positive impact: It forced companies to become more agile and propelled their digital convergence efforts, increasing competitiveness as well as cost savings. Businesses turned to collaboration tools in a massive way, and they reaped benefits of cloud computing, automation, and AI projects that had already been put in place.

This panel discussion, moderated by Information Week and ITPro Today, will examine the lessons learned as well as what lies ahead for IT teams facing an uncertain budget outlook and pressure to double down on efficiencies gained during the COVID-19 surge.

Increasing Innovation in IT – Without Breaking the Bank

In these tumultuous times, IT organizations are tasked with two critical, yet often conflicting priorities: increasing online innovation and cutting IT costs. In this eye-opening keynote address, the CIO of a well-known enterprise offers a first-hand perspective on how organizations can implement new IT strategies that not only increase functionality and reach, but also save money in the process.

Maxine Holt, Senior Research Director, Omdia

Maxine leads Omdia’s cybersecurity proposition, developing a comprehensive research program in this area to support vendor, service provider, and enterprise clients. Having worked with enterprises across multiple industries in the world of information security, Maxine has a strong understanding of the challenges faced and how organizations can look to overcome these challenges.

Maxine rejoined Omdia, formerly Ovum, in 2018, having spent over two years at the Information Security Forum (ISF) developing research in areas including Protecting the Crown Jewels and Securing Collaboration Platforms. Prior to the ISF, Maxine spent 15 years at Ovum covering topics including security, human capital management, and identity and access management. Maxine has a particular interest in how all the component parts of security combine to make up an organization’s security posture. She is a regular speaker at events and writes articles for leading publications on various aspects of information security.

Panel Session: How to Cost-Effectively Enable Remote Access for the 100% Work-From-Home Workforce

Mandates to stay in place due to COVID-19 have transformed most companies into 100% work-from-home operations. Access to cloud apps from home, while dependent on high-quality broadband service, requires relatively modest adjustments. The real challenge comes when trying to provide employees with access to critical business systems and applications behind the firewall without investing large sums of money. This panel discussion, moderated by Network Computing, will explore options including VPNs, virtual desktop infrastructure (VDI) and desktop-as-a-service, and will investigate how to cost-effectively scale and remotely manage edge devices, including routers, gateways and firewalls.
